Join acclaimed landscape artist Wayne McKinzie for a unique "Paint with Wayne" experience. Rather than a traditional painting class, everyone will paint the same landscape alongside Wayne, giving you a front-row seat to his creative process from start to finish.

Each participant will receive an 8" x 10" primed panel and will work step-by-step with Wayne as he demonstrates how he uses light, shadow, color, brushwork, and composition to bring a landscape to life. Throughout the class, students are encouraged to ask questions, observe his techniques in real time, and gain insight into the artistic decisions that go into creating an original painting.

The focus of this workshop is on learning Wayne's process and building skills and confidence—not necessarily on completing a finished painting. Participants will leave with practical techniques and a deeper understanding of acrylic landscape painting that they can continue to apply in their own artwork.

Students should bring their own acrylic paints, brushes, and palette (Weehawken has palettes available if needed). A recommended supply list from Wayne includes:

About WayneMcKinzie:

Wayne McKinzie was born April 17, 1957 in Warrensburg, Missouri. His family
moved many times during his youth mostly living in small towns in Missouri,
Oklahoma, and Iowa. His artwork is influenced by the rural settings in which he
grew up and worked. The effect of humans on the landscape and the random
patterns created by a mixture of agriculture and nature can be seen in his expansive
pieces.
Wayne received his BA from Buena Vista University in Iowa in 1979. In addition to
fine art, he has a background in commercial art and illustration. He has had several
one person shows at galleries in the Fort Worth/Dallas area. His paintings have also
been represented in group shows and galleries in Colorado, Utah and New Mexico.
From 2007 to 2012 he worked primarily as a commission artist, adding to both
individual and corporate collections.
After living 27 years in Fort Worth, Texas, Wayne relocated to New Mexico in 2010
and presently lives in Western Colorado in the Grand Mesa Area. He is pleased to
be back in a landscape that inspires him and is enjoying Colorado's influence on his
work.
