Functional Strength & Mobility Training (for women): Tuesday & Thursday 8:15-9 am

Vinyasa Yoga: Wednesday 8:15-9:15 am

Functional means we focus on movements that mimic everyday activities and improve overall mobility, strength and fitness. Exercises often work multiple muscle groups simultaneously, improving coordination and stability. I love the female group setting because we get a chance to really connect and not only get stronger physically, but also build support and community. Come for a drop in and get a taste or commit long term to transformation, vitality and longevity. All levels are welcome. Let's do hard things together!

Class Structure: 5 minute warm up / 30 minute circuit workout / 10 minute cooldown stretch & mobility

Vinyasa Yoga: This is a dynamic practice that will challenge, strengthen, and uplift you both physically and mentally. This practice moves through seven doorways or stages, starting by creating sacred space and connecting to breath. Then we light the fire through a series of warmups and vinyasa flow including Surya Namaskar (sun salutations) A, B & C. The warm up prepares the body for strong holding postures and finishes with yin and conscious surrender in savasana. All are welcome!

What To Bring: yoga mat, water, no shoes preferred - If you need to wear shoes they must be clean indoor shoes only. No mud, dirt, snow, etc.

Bonnie’s work has been shown in numerous exhibits in the United States. In 2015, Bonnie’s work was in a year-long solo exhibition at the Portland Oregon International Airport. I have been experimenting with improvisational design for many years, but lately decided to devote a series of works to that process. I start by putting a pieced or plain fabric shape on my pin-wall, then respond to that. I add to what is there with another shape or piece and see what happens. It is liberating to not have to conform to a predesignated design. These pieces “go with the flow.” I generally use my own hand-dyed fabrics. These are dyed with Procion MX Fiber-Reactive dyes. Lately I have incorporated some commercial fabrics and some fabrics created by other dyers and friends. All the pieces are free-form cut, that is, no rulers or straight edges. This free-cut technique creates imperfections that to me are more engaging than precise piecing. I have a longarm quilting machine. All the quilting is free motion, meaning again, no rulers or programmed designs. I love to just sew and
embrace the outcome.

Each week, your child will enjoy story time with songs and finger rhymes, a process‑art project, and a variety of creative sensory play. We end with a quick cleanup, circle time, and movement songs.

This class gently supports preschool prep and helps your child develop important school‑readiness skills—such as fine‑motor coordination, independence, and the ability to listen and follow directions—in a warm, supportive setting. Children will grow in:

Drawing inspiration from well-known artists and design styles, young artists will be supported in discovering their own unique creative voice in a fun, nurturing, studio-like setting. These classes are designed to foster a love of the arts through hands-on exploration, age-appropriate projects, and a focus on the joy of the creative process.

A student art reception will be held in December. Students will take home their collected works in the days following the event.

Through storytelling, archival perspective, aerial cinematography, and local voices, the film traces the layered history of Ouray and the individuals who built a mountain community that continues to evolve while remaining deeply connected to its frontier roots.

The film features aerial photography by Ouray By Flight, cinematography by Levi Kramer, and is produced and directed by Hank Braxtan.

Through open-ended projects, students are encouraged to explore their creativity, make artistic choices, take creative risks, and discover their unique artistic voice. Our classes nurture imaginative thinking and storytelling, helping children express big ideas and emotions through visual narratives and personal creations.

In addition to sparking imagination, our signature art projects support the development of fine motor skills, confidence, and social-emotional development in a fun group environment. Sharing materials, taking turns, and offering kind feedback all become part of the experience.

A student art reception will be held in December. Students will take home their collected works in the days following the event.

* This is a drop-off class. Ms. Claudia meets students at the elementary school at 3:00 pm and walks them to the Cora classroom. Parents who drop off can meet the group at ~3:15 pm at the classroom.

* Voyager Add-On Option: Voyager staff can escort students after art class for continued care from 4:30–5:30 pm, at an additional cost of $5 per afternoon. Join acclaimed landscape artist Wayne McKinzie for a unique "Paint with Wayne" experience. Rather than a traditional painting class, everyone will paint the same landscape alongside Wayne, giving you a front-row seat to his creative process from start to finish.

Each participant will receive an 8" x 10" primed panel and will work step-by-step with Wayne as he demonstrates how he uses light, shadow, color, brushwork, and composition to bring a landscape to life. Throughout the class, students are encouraged to ask questions, observe his techniques in real time, and gain insight into the artistic decisions that go into creating an original painting.

The focus of this workshop is on learning Wayne's process and building skills and confidence—not necessarily on completing a finished painting. Participants will leave with practical techniques and a deeper understanding of acrylic landscape painting that they can continue to apply in their own artwork.

Students should bring their own acrylic paints, brushes, and palette (Weehawken has palettes available if needed). A recommended supply list from Wayne includes:

About WayneMcKinzie:

Wayne McKinzie was born April 17, 1957 in Warrensburg, Missouri. His family
moved many times during his youth mostly living in small towns in Missouri,
Oklahoma, and Iowa. His artwork is influenced by the rural settings in which he
grew up and worked. The effect of humans on the landscape and the random
patterns created by a mixture of agriculture and nature can be seen in his expansive
pieces.
Wayne received his BA from Buena Vista University in Iowa in 1979. In addition to
fine art, he has a background in commercial art and illustration. He has had several
one person shows at galleries in the Fort Worth/Dallas area. His paintings have also
been represented in group shows and galleries in Colorado, Utah and New Mexico.
From 2007 to 2012 he worked primarily as a commission artist, adding to both
individual and corporate collections.
After living 27 years in Fort Worth, Texas, Wayne relocated to New Mexico in 2010
and presently lives in Western Colorado in the Grand Mesa Area. He is pleased to
be back in a landscape that inspires him and is enjoying Colorado's influence on his
work.

Bonnie’s work has been shown in numerous exhibits in the United States. In 2015, Bonnie’s work was in a year-long solo exhibition at the Portland Oregon International Airport. She was a solo artist at the Visions Museum of Textile Art, San Diego, in 2019.

Internationally, Bonnie’s work has appeared in the Haus der Wirtschaft museum in Stuttgart, Germany, the Museum of Modern Art in Verona, Italy, and other venues in Germany, England, Ireland, France, Japan, Brazil, and the Netherlands. Bonnie’s work Tangle is part of the permanent collection of the Tuch + Technik Textilmuseum, Neumunster, Germany. She has work in the Patchwork Design Contemporaneo Collection in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and the State of Alaska’s Art Bank.

Artist Statement:
I have been experimenting with improvisational design for many years, but lately decided to devote a series of works to that process. I start by putting a pieced or plain fabric shape on my pin-wall, then respond to that. I add to what is there with another shape or piece and see what happens. It is liberating to not have to conform to a predesignated design. These pieces “go with the flow.” I generally use my own hand-dyed fabrics. These are dyed with Procion MX Fiber-Reactive dyes. Lately I have incorporated some commercial fabrics and some fabrics created by other dyers and friends. All the pieces are free-form cut, that is, no rulers or straight edges. This free-cut technique creates imperfections that to me are more engaging than precise piecing. I have a longarm quilting machine. All the quilting is free motion, meaning again, no rulers or programmed designs. I love to just sew and
embrace the outcome.

Join us for an intimate evening with Alex Dunn and Mimi Genheimer! Dunn uses his own personal blend of Folk/Americana to reflect on the many lives he’s led, from his youth along the border of Colorado and Wyoming to the quiet moments aboard commercial fishing vessels in the remote waters of Southeast Alaska, where he spent over a decade toiling on the sea and writing songs during his down time. Melodic sawdust and salt air, his music breathes with a sense of place, yet is imminently accessible and speaks to the universal.

His debut record Scattered Poems was recorded in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, WA and released in the fall of 2018 – an elegant and timeless debut, graced by the talents of some of the Northwest’s finest roots musicians, including Anna Tivel and Eli West.

Partnering with the label Color Red, he released his sophomore LP Southern Star in 2021 – which he recorded with his band at Avast Recording Company and co-produced alongside multi-instrumentalist Bryant Moore (True Loves). It was mastered by legendary engineer Greg Calbi (Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, Talking Heads, Blondie, Muddy Waters, Bon Iver, you name it).

About MIM GENHEIMER:

Hailing from Dolores, CO, Mimi Genheimer is a member of Alex Dunn’s band The Deal, as well as a collaborator of various other Four Corners area music projects. She is also a solo artist all her own. Music has always been a delightfully inescapable endeavor for her – she loves to explore methods, genres and different instruments. From orchestras and classical quartets to Americana, old time and blues, her classical training compliments her improvisational chops.

There’s something special about hearing musicians in the setting they were meant for — not over the noise of a crowded bar or restaurant, but up close, under the blue Ridgway sky, where every lyric and guitar line has room to be heard.

This special Courtyard at 610 performance offers a rare opportunity to slow down, settle in, and truly experience Alex Dunn’s music in an intimate listening-room atmosphere. Expect an evening of reflection and inspiration spun through Dunn’s unique style of storytelling.

Functional Strength & Mobility Training (for women): Tuesday & Thursday 8:15-9 am

Vinyasa Yoga: Wednesday 8:15-9:15 am

Functional means we focus on movements that mimic everyday activities and improve overall mobility, strength and fitness. Exercises often work multiple muscle groups simultaneously, improving coordination and stability. I love the female group setting because we get a chance to really connect and not only get stronger physically, but also build support and community. Come for a drop in and get a taste or commit long term to transformation, vitality and longevity. All levels are welcome. Let's do hard things together!

Class Structure: 5 minute warm up / 30 minute circuit workout / 10 minute cooldown stretch & mobility

Vinyasa Yoga: This is a dynamic practice that will challenge, strengthen, and uplift you both physically and mentally. This practice moves through seven doorways or stages, starting by creating sacred space and connecting to breath. Then we light the fire through a series of warmups and vinyasa flow including Surya Namaskar (sun salutations) A, B & C. The warm up prepares the body for strong holding postures and finishes with yin and conscious surrender in savasana. All are welcome!

What To Bring: yoga mat, water, no shoes preferred - If you need to wear shoes they must be clean indoor shoes only. No mud, dirt, snow, etc.

This class gently supports preschool prep and helps your child develop important school‑readiness skills—such as fine‑motor coordination, independence, and the ability to listen and follow directions—in a warm, supportive setting. Children will grow in:

Drawing inspiration from well-known artists and design styles, young artists will be supported in discovering their own unique creative voice in a fun, nurturing, studio-like setting. These classes are designed to foster a love of the arts through hands-on exploration, age-appropriate projects, and a focus on the joy of the creative process.

A student art reception will be held in December. Students will take home their collected works in the days following the event.

Through storytelling, archival perspective, aerial cinematography, and local voices, the film traces the layered history of Ouray and the individuals who built a mountain community that continues to evolve while remaining deeply connected to its frontier roots.

The film features aerial photography by Ouray By Flight, cinematography by Levi Kramer, and is produced and directed by Hank Braxtan.

Vinyasa Yoga: Wednesday 8:15-9:15 am

Functional means we focus on movements that mimic everyday activities and improve overall mobility, strength and fitness. Exercises often work multiple muscle groups simultaneously, improving coordination and stability. I love the female group setting because we get a chance to really connect and not only get stronger physically, but also build support and community. Come for a drop in and get a taste or commit long term to transformation, vitality and longevity. All levels are welcome. Let's do hard things together!

Class Structure: 5 minute warm up / 30 minute circuit workout / 10 minute cooldown stretch & mobility

Vinyasa Yoga: This is a dynamic practice that will challenge, strengthen, and uplift you both physically and mentally. This practice moves through seven doorways or stages, starting by creating sacred space and connecting to breath. Then we light the fire through a series of warmups and vinyasa flow including Surya Namaskar (sun salutations) A, B & C. The warm up prepares the body for strong holding postures and finishes with yin and conscious surrender in savasana. All are welcome!

What To Bring: yoga mat, water, no shoes preferred - If you need to wear shoes they must be clean indoor shoes only. No mud, dirt, snow, etc.

Bonnie’s work won Best of Show at Quilt National 2011 and is now part of the Quilt National Permanent Collection at the International Quilt Museum in Lincoln, Nebraska. Bonnie’s work has been shown in numerous exhibits in the United States. In 2015, Bonnie’s work was in a year-long solo exhibition at the Portland Oregon International Airport. She was a solo artist at the Visions Museum of Textile Art, San Diego, in 2019.

Internationally, Bonnie’s work has appeared in the Haus der Wirtschaft museum in Stuttgart, Germany, the Museum of Modern Art in Verona, Italy, and other venues in Germany, England, Ireland, France, Japan, Brazil, and the Netherlands. Bonnie’s work Tangle is part of the permanent collection of the Tuch + Technik Textilmuseum, Neumunster, Germany. She has work in the Patchwork Design Contemporaneo Collection in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and the State of Alaska’s Art Bank.

Artist Statement:
I have been experimenting with improvisational design for many years, but lately decided to devote a series of works to that process. I start by putting a pieced or plain fabric shape on my pin-wall, then respond to that. I add to what is there with another shape or piece and see what happens. It is liberating to not have to conform to a predesignated design. These pieces “go with the flow.” I generally use my own hand-dyed fabrics. These are dyed with Procion MX Fiber-Reactive dyes. Lately I have incorporated some commercial fabrics and some fabrics created by other dyers and friends. All the pieces are free-form cut, that is, no rulers or straight edges. This free-cut technique creates imperfections that to me are more engaging than precise piecing. I have a longarm quilting machine. All the quilting is free motion, meaning again, no rulers or programmed designs. I love to just sew and
embrace the outcome.

Bonnie's exhibition will be on display September 1 - 25 with an artist reception on September 4th.

This exhibition features new works by artists who recieved a Social Justice Grant from Telluride Arts to create work for this traveling exhibit.

Session 1 (4 weeks • $85): September 17 – October 8Session 2 (4 weeks • $85): October 22 – November 12Session 3 (3 weeks • $70): December 3 – December 17Each week, students will explore exciting themes and projects while experimenting with a wide variety of art materials—such as watercolor and acrylic paints, oil and chalk pastels, clay, collage, printmaking, and more.

Through open-ended projects, students are encouraged to explore their creativity, make artistic choices, take creative risks, and discover their unique artistic voice. Our classes nurture imaginative thinking and storytelling, helping children express big ideas and emotions through visual narratives and personal creations.

In addition to sparking imagination, our signature art projects support the development of fine motor skills, confidence, and social-emotional development in a fun group environment. Sharing materials, taking turns, and offering kind feedback all become part of the experience.

A student art reception will be held in December. Students will take home their collected works in the days following the event.

* This is a drop-off class. Ms. Claudia meets students at the elementary school at 3:00 pm and walks them to the Cora classroom. Parents who drop off can meet the group at ~3:15 pm at the classroom.
* Special needs: If your child has any specific needs, please contact Claudia in advance at claudia@weehawkenarts.org so we can ensure the best experience for your child.
* Voyager Add-On Option: Voyager staff can escort students after art class for continued care from 4:30–5:30 pm, at an additional cost of $5 per afternoon. Whether you’ve never picked up a paintbrush or you’re looking to sharpen your skills, you’ll learn basic watercolor techniques, color flowing, layering, and tips and tricks while enjoying your favorite beverage. About the Instructor: Katey Fetch

Katey Fetch hails from a small town in Colorado, where she continues to learn how to be an artist. Though she went to art school, she took a long hiatus from art and is in the midst of rediscovering what art means to her. Her favorite mediums are graphite pencil and watercolor. She draws inspiration from many talented artists, both past and present, nature, and the wonder of the three feral beasts she’s raising—aka, her daughters. Katey enjoys creating portraits, forlorn figures, and interesting compositions.

Come hang out for an evening that mixes chill social time with free food and fun activities. Every month, we have games, art and more available. All we ask is that you clean up after yourself and help us create a welcoming space for everyone.

This month, Tammy Stroup, the Ouray County Undersheriff, will be joining us. She brings a knowledge and enthusiasm for forensics that you can tap into to elevate your investigations and insights.

Discover the magic of alternative photography in this beginner-friendly, hands-on workshop! Learn how to create beautiful cyanotype prints using light-sensitive chemicals, sunlight, and altering the classic blue hues using natural botanical toning agents.

You’ll learn the basics of coating watercolor paper, arranging flowers, leaves, lace, or negatives, and exposing your designs to UV light to create the classic cyanotype blue. Then, experiment with natural botanical toning techniques using coffee and tea to transform your prints into rich sepia, charcoal, grey, and eggplant tones.

Each student will create their own finished project and can choose between an 8×10 glass frame or wood slices for creating botanical ornaments.

What to Bring:

Optional: 3–5 flat objects such as pressed flowers, leaves, feathers, lace, or other items to incorporate into your prints. A variety of materials will also be provided.
An apron or dark clothing that can get stained.

Come explore the surprising possibilities of sun printing and create unique botanical artwork to take home!

A Tennessee native and graduate of the Art Institute of Atlanta, Angi now calls Montrose, Colorado, home, where she enjoys life with her husband and their three dogs. Nature is her sanctuary, and she treasures time spent hiking the trails with her furry companions—reminders to slow down and savor the beauty that surrounds us.

Art has always been Angi’s lifelong passion. She delights in illustrating children’s books and dreams of one day writing and illustrating her own. Angi is an avid learner and relishes sharing new experiences. She believes that life’s challenges feel lighter when we have something joyful to look forward to—and for her, art is that joy. Teaching is especially rewarding, as Angi views art not only as a way to connect and build community, but also as a transformative journey filled with endless possibilities.

Part biography, part how-to, “Water Wizard” Bill Zeedyk and his allies illustrate a proven toolbox of simple low-tech, low-cost methods to restore degraded lands. They work with Nature, rather than against her, to gird against the extremes of drought and flood while fostering climate resiliency. We’ll be screening: Episode 1: “Willing to Try Things”

Today, “Water Wizard” Bill Zeedyk is a legend in the ecological restoration community. But when he began this work over 25 years ago, after retiring from the U.S. Forest Service, his ideas were considered almost heretical.

Building on the work of Luna Leopold (son of famed conservationist Aldo Leopold), the river guru Dave Rosgen, and influenced by indigenous practices of tribes in NM and AZ, Zeedyk coaxes straightened streams back on their natural meandering course, lifts the creek, raises the water table and recreates lost habitats. All while using simple restoration techniques he designed or innovated upon.

Each week, your child will enjoy story time with songs and finger rhymes, a process‑art project, and a variety of creative sensory play. We end with a quick cleanup, circle time, and movement songs.

This class gently supports preschool prep and helps your child develop important school‑readiness skills—such as fine‑motor coordination, independence, and the ability to listen and follow directions—in a warm, supportive setting. Children will grow in:

Social, language, and communication skills
Fine‑ and gross‑motor coordination
Listening and direction‑following abilities
Confidence, creativity, and imagination

Session 1 (4 weeks • $85): September 17 – October 8Session 2 (4 weeks • $85): October 22 – November 12Session 3 (3 weeks • $70): December 3 – December 17Each week, students will explore exciting themes and projects while experimenting with a wide variety of art materials—such as watercolor and acrylic paints, oil and chalk pastels, clay, collage, printmaking, and more.

Through open-ended projects, students are encouraged to explore their creativity, make artistic choices, take creative risks, and discover their unique artistic voice. Our classes nurture imaginative thinking and storytelling, helping children express big ideas and emotions through visual narratives and personal creations.

In addition to sparking imagination, our signature art projects support the development of fine motor skills, confidence, and social-emotional development in a fun group environment. Sharing materials, taking turns, and offering kind feedback all become part of the experience.

A student art reception will be held in December. Students will take home their collected works in the days following the event.

* This is a drop-off class. Ms. Claudia meets students at the elementary school at 3:00 pm and walks them to the Cora classroom. Parents who drop off can meet the group at ~3:15 pm at the classroom.

* Voyager Add-On Option: Voyager staff can escort students after art class for continued care from 4:30–5:30 pm, at an additional cost of $5 per afternoon. Space Cowboy is landing in Ridgway for a month of art, poetry, storytelling, and community programming as part of its four-year journey through Colorado’s Creative Districts.

Created by Colorado artists Emilie Odeile and Ken Chapin of Dundee & Lee, the exhibition centers on a 10-foot-tall fiber rocket topped with a cowboy hat and Mission Control consoles that gather images, voices, stories, and discoveries as Space Cowboy travels from community to community.

Throughout October, the exhibition comes alive with special events and programming, including appearances by Colorado Poet Laureate Crisosto Apache, community conversations, and opportunities for Ridgway residents to become part of the continuing Space Cowboy story.

There’s nothing quite like Ridgway in early October — bright blue skies, golden aspens and cottonwoods glowing on the hillsides, and the irresistible scent of bratwursts sizzling in Hartwell Park. That can only mean one thing: Oktoberfest has arrived!

This year marks the inaugural San Juan Oktoberfest, happening Sunday, October 4, immediately following the wildly fun Ridgway 1K Rally Through the Alley. After the costumes, laughter, and downhill dash through town, the celebration continues in the park with a festival that blends Austrian tradition with Rocky Mountain charm.

Picture lederhosen and dirndls, frothy steins clinking together, live music filling the autumn air, and kids laughing just as much as the adults. It’s the perfect way to send off summer and welcome the golden days of fall in the quirky mountain town we all love: Ridgway.

Karate class is a great way to learn skills to keep you safe, stay in shape and strong core movements. Karate believes in using it only to protect self and is taught accordingly. Whether you are new to Karate or a seasoned student, the Sensei will work with your level. Taught in the kyokushin kai-kan style, similar shotokan style of karate, we welcome new students to try this exceptional experience for your mind and body!

Vinyasa Yoga: Wednesday 8:15-9:15 am

Functional means we focus on movements that mimic everyday activities and improve overall mobility, strength and fitness. Exercises often work multiple muscle groups simultaneously, improving coordination and stability. I love the female group setting because we get a chance to really connect and not only get stronger physically, but also build support and community. Come for a drop in and get a taste or commit long term to transformation, vitality and longevity. All levels are welcome. Let's do hard things together!

Session 1 (4 weeks • $85): September 17 – October 8Session 2 (4 weeks • $85): October 22 – November 12Session 3 (3 weeks • $70): December 3 – December 17Each week, students will explore exciting themes and projects while experimenting with a wide variety of art materials—such as watercolor and acrylic paints, oil and chalk pastels, clay, collage, printmaking, and more.

Through open-ended projects, students are encouraged to explore their creativity, make artistic choices, take creative risks, and discover their unique artistic voice. Our classes nurture imaginative thinking and storytelling, helping children express big ideas and emotions through visual narratives and personal creations.

In addition to sparking imagination, our signature art projects support the development of fine motor skills, confidence, and social-emotional development in a fun group environment. Sharing materials, taking turns, and offering kind feedback all become part of the experience.

A student art reception will be held in December. Students will take home their collected works in the days following the event.

* This is a drop-off class. Ms. Claudia meets students at the elementary school at 3:00 pm and walks them to the Cora classroom. Parents who drop off can meet the group at ~3:15 pm at the classroom.
* Special needs: If your child has any specific needs, please contact Claudia in advance at claudia@weehawkenarts.org so we can ensure the best experience for your child.
* Voyager Add-On Option: Voyager staff can escort students after art class for continued care from 4:30–5:30 pm, at an additional cost of $5 per afternoon. Painting workshop focusing on fall colors in the forests and mountains. Mary Pat will provide students with images of both paintings and photographs of aspens, cottonwoods and the glorious San Juans mountains clothed in golden autumn splendor. Working with acrylics in a watercolor style, Mary Pat will assist both experienced and novice painters, helping them grow their painting skills. Colors mixing to achieve those lovely fall colors as well as composition options will be discussed and applied to the students painting choices. Laughter and learning combine to make Mary Pat's workshops a delightful experience.

About Mary Pat Ettinger – Artist & Instructor

Mary Pat Ettinger’s work is often described as peaceful and uplifting. Having lived much of her life in rural settings, she draws daily inspiration from solitude, natural beauty, and the simple joys around her. From laundry hanging in the sun to flower gardens bursting through picket fences, and from sweeping canyons to mountain vistas, Mary Pat paints what she loves and what surrounds her.

Through her art, she hopes to share the serenity and gratitude she experiences every day—the songs of birds, the hum of crickets, and the quiet of the pastures near her home. Her paintings aim to encourage, inspire, and provide a sense of calm and beauty amid life’s challenges.

About Nicole Greenfield:

Nicole Greenfield is a painter based in Ridgway, Colorado. Working primarily in acrylic and oil, she creates expressive portraits and atmospheric landscapes that explore the quiet intimacy found in observing people and the natural world. Nicole is a self-taught artist who has developed her skills through years of dedicated practice and online learning. She is a proud member of the Mountain Girl Gallery, her work has been commissioned multiple times and featured in exhibitions at multiple local galleries, with additional pieces sold through online platforms. As her craft has evolved, so has her confidence and commitment to pursuing a career in art. She is now focused on sharing her work and process more widely and continuing to grow as a painter.

ABOUT ALYSHA BRILLA

Alysha Brilla is a 3× JUNO Award nominated songwriter, producer and electrifying live performer, as well as the 2025 Women in Music International Leadership Honouree and a 2024 Canadian Screen Award nominee. Sounds of earth, songs of stars.

Rooted in her Indo-Tanzanian heritage and shaped by the Great Lakes in Canada, Brilla’s sound is distinctly unique. Driven by global percussion, percussive guitar and soaring vocals, Brilla’s sound is a transcendent call and response – creating a live show that is more than a performance; it is an interactive, embodied experience.

Functional means we focus on movements that mimic everyday activities and improve overall mobility, strength and fitness. Exercises often work multiple muscle groups simultaneously, improving coordination and stability. I love the female group setting because we get a chance to really connect and not only get stronger physically, but also build support and community. Each week, your child will enjoy story time with songs and finger rhymes, a process‑art project, and a variety of creative sensory play. We end with a quick cleanup, circle time, and movement songs.

This class gently supports preschool prep and helps your child develop important school‑readiness skills—such as fine‑motor coordination, independence, and the ability to listen and follow directions—in a warm, supportive setting. Children will grow in:

Through open-ended projects, students are encouraged to explore their creativity, make artistic choices, take creative risks, and discover their unique artistic voice. Our classes nurture imaginative thinking and storytelling, helping children express big ideas and emotions through visual narratives and personal creations.

In addition to sparking imagination, our signature art projects support the development of fine motor skills, confidence, and social-emotional development in a fun group environment. Sharing materials, taking turns, and offering kind feedback all become part of the experience.

A student art reception will be held in December. Students will take home their collected works in the days following the event.

* This is a drop-off class. Ms. Claudia meets students at the elementary school at 3:00 pm and walks them to the Cora classroom. Parents who drop off can meet the group at ~3:15 pm at the classroom.

Discover the beauty and versatility of pine needles as you create your own wearable art and decorative pieces! In this class, students will explore the traditional craft of pine needle weaving and learn how to transform this natural material into unique, handcrafted items such as coiled jewelry, small baskets, hair accessories, and other creative forms.
Students will work with naturally shed ponderosa pine needles and complementary materials like thread, found objects, and a wild clay or wood basket base. Through hands-on practice, you will learn essential techniques including preparing and softening needles, coiling, stitching, shaping, and finishing your designs.
This beginner-friendly class is perfect for nature lovers and anyone interested in slowing down and connecting to the land through creative expression. All supplies are provided, though you are welcome to bring your own collected pine needles or special embellishments for added inspiration and personalization.

About Emily Knickerbocker

Emily Knickerbocker is an artist and educator based on Colorado’s Western Slope, where the surrounding mountains, valleys, and deserts inspire connection, reflection, and creativity. Her artistic practice centers on natural and repurposed materials, capturing the raw, interconnected qualities of the natural world. Through her work, Emily seeks to nurture meaningful relationships between people and the environment, where personal expression can spark advocacy, healing, and wonder. She holds a BA in Art Education from the University of Northern Colorado and has taught in diverse settings from public schools to alternative, outdoor-based programs. Currently, Emily is expanding her personal art practice while continuing to create engaging educational opportunities for youth in Ridgway and Montrose.

Vinyasa Yoga: Wednesday 8:15-9:15 am

Functional means we focus on movements that mimic everyday activities and improve overall mobility, strength and fitness. Exercises often work multiple muscle groups simultaneously, improving coordination and stability. I love the female group setting because we get a chance to really connect and not only get stronger physically, but also build support and community. Come for a drop in and get a taste or commit long term to transformation, vitality and longevity. All levels are welcome. Let's do hard things together!

Class Structure: 5 minute warm up / 30 minute circuit workout / 10 minute cooldown stretch & mobility

Painting with acrylics in a watercolor style, students will enjoy exploring either landscape fall scenes or flowers and pumpkins scenes. Mary Pat will provide images for students to work from, or students may bring their own reference photos. Mary Pat will work with students to achieve a good composition and will help understand how various colors work well to create a vibrant painting. Students may expect to enjoy a delightful painting time filled with learning and laughter.

Mary Pat Ettinger’s work is often described as peaceful and uplifting. Having lived much of her life in rural settings, she draws daily inspiration from solitude, natural beauty, and the simple joys around her. From laundry hanging in the sun to flower gardens bursting through picket fences, and from sweeping canyons to mountain vistas, Mary Pat paints what she loves and what surrounds her.

Through her art, she hopes to share the serenity and gratitude she experiences every day—the songs of birds, the hum of crickets, and the quiet of the pastures near her home. Her paintings aim to encourage, inspire, and provide a sense of calm and beauty amid life’s challenges.

Karate class is a great way to learn skills to keep you safe, stay in shape and strong core movements. Karate believes in using it only to protect self and is taught accordingly. Whether you are new to Karate or a seasoned student, the Sensei will work with your level. Taught in the kyokushin kai-kan style, similar shotokan style of karate, we welcome new students to try this exceptional experience for your mind and body!

Mixed ages --- Ages 7 through Adult (extended time for more experience)

Mondays in Ouray: St. Daniels Catholic Church back side door on 5th (614 5th St, Ouray, CO 81427) from 5pm to 6pm for beginners through intermediate (all who are starting or do not have a brown belt). Brown Belt + will work from 5pm to 6:30 pm.

Wednesdays at the Old Schoolhouse (1075 Sherman St Ridgway, CO 81432) from 5:15pm to 6:15pm for beginners through intermediate (all who are just starting through mid-level — or do not have a brown belt). Brown Belt + will work from 5:15pm to 6:45 pm.

Our classes nurture imaginative thinking and storytelling, helping children express big ideas and emotions through visual narratives and personal creations.

In addition to sparking imagination, our signature art projects support the development of fine motor skills, confidence, and social-emotional development in a fun group environment. Sharing materials, taking turns, and offering kind feedback all become part of the experience.

A student art reception will be held in December. Students will take home their collected works in the days following the event.

This year, RIFF returns to its longtime home in November, taking place November 13–15, 2026, with a refreshed structure designed to create deeper connection and conversation.

RIFF 2026 will open with a Friday night kickoff event, followed by two full days of film screenings on Saturday and Sunday at the historic Sherbino Theater in downtown Ridgway. In a new twist for 2026, all film selections will center around a unified theme chosen by a community committee—a curatorial shift that invites filmmakers from around the world to explore a shared question, idea, or perspective. More details on the theme will be announced in spring 2026.

As always, RIFF showcases exceptional short films while also featuring a curated selection of longer-form work—hidden gems from rising and established filmmakers that deserve a spotlight. Presented by the historic Sherbino Theater and the Town of Ridgway, the Ridgway Independent Film Fest (RIFF) features short films by both emerging and veteran voices in filmmaking. We value storytelling, experimentation, and community-building through film and art.

Ridgway has been a certified Creative District since 2013. Our small community is nestled in a scenic valley between two mountain ranges: the Sneffels Range on the northern edge of the San Juan Mountains and the Cimarron Range. Ridgway is located in SW Colorado between the historic towns of Telluride to the west and Ouray to the south.

Ridgway provides an intimate, genuine, and community-oriented festival experience.Filmmakers join us to make connections with fellow creatives, industry leaders, artists, musicians, athletes, and change-makers—all of the remarkable people who make Ridgway their home and who join us for this unique festival each year.

RIFF also celebrates long-form films that may have flown under the radar during their initial release. The planning committee reserves the right to invite longer-form films to the Fest, although they may not be adjudicated.

Rules and Terms

1) Filmmakers are asked to submit creative, high-quality, independent films. Strong storytelling and inventiveness are encouraged.

2) Films must be submitted with captions in English for accessibility.

3) All fees are nonrefundable.

4) A limited number of fee waivers exist for hardship reasons. They will be granted on a first come, first served basis. Submitters MUST provide RIFF with reasons, in writing, that a hardship exists.

5) By submitting your film to this festival, you allow us to use stills, trailers, and other promotional materials for potential projection on exterior walls of buildings in Ridgway, inclusion in social media, web promotion, and print promotion.

6) Films may be selected for subsequent viewings beyond the festival dates.

RIFF celebrates voices in storytelling from a rich diversity of cultural and personal backgrounds and viewpoints.

Filmmakers are very welcome to attend the festival in person. We will accommodate filmmakers to appear remotely whenever possible.

5) By submitting your film to this festival, you allow us to use stills, trailers, and other promotional materials for potential projection on exterior walls of buildings in Ridgway, inclusion in social media, web promotion, and print promotion.

6) Films may be selected for subsequent viewings beyond the festival dates.

RIFF celebrates voices in storytelling from a rich diversity of cultural and personal backgrounds and viewpoints.

12 Years of Fierce, Fearless, Independent Film

The Ridgway Independent Film Festival (RIFF) returns in 2026 with its 12th year of celebrating bold storytelling, emerging filmmakers, and the power of community through the lens of independent film.

Rooted in a volunteer-driven, grassroots effort born shortly after Ridgway became one of Colorado’s first Certified Creative Districts, RIFF continues to evolve while honoring its origins. This year, RIFF returns to its longtime home in November, taking place November 13–15, 2026, with a refreshed structure designed to create deeper connection and conversation.

RIFF 2026 will open with a Friday night kickoff event, followed by two full days of film screenings on Saturday and Sunday at the historic Sherbino Theater in downtown Ridgway. In a new twist for 2026, all film selections will center around a unified theme chosen by a community committee—a curatorial shift that invites filmmakers from around the world to explore a shared question, idea, or perspective. More details on the theme will be announced in spring 2026.

As always, RIFF showcases exceptional short films while also featuring a curated selection of longer-form work—hidden gems from rising and established filmmakers that deserve a spotlight. Expect filmmaker Q&As, meaningful discussion, and opportunities to engage with artists, musicians, adventurers, athletes, and changemakers who call this creative mountain town home.

Functional means we focus on movements that mimic everyday activities and improve overall mobility, strength and fitness. Exercises often work multiple muscle groups simultaneously, improving coordination and stability. I love the female group setting because we get a chance to really connect and not only get stronger physically, but also build support and community. Each week, your child will enjoy story time with songs and finger rhymes, a process‑art project, and a variety of creative sensory play. We end with a quick cleanup, circle time, and movement songs.

This class gently supports preschool prep and helps your child develop important school‑readiness skills—such as fine‑motor coordination, independence, and the ability to listen and follow directions—in a warm, supportive setting. Children will grow in:

Drawing inspiration from well-known artists and design styles, young artists will be supported in discovering their own unique creative voice in a fun, nurturing, studio-like setting. These classes are designed to foster a love of the arts through hands-on exploration, age-appropriate projects, and a focus on the joy of the creative process.

A student art reception will be held in December. Students will take home their collected works in the days following the event.

Karate class is a great way to learn skills to keep you safe, stay in shape and strong core movements. Karate believes in using it only to protect self and is taught accordingly. Whether you are new to Karate or a seasoned student, the Sensei will work with your level. Taught in the kyokushin kai-kan style, similar shotokan style of karate, we welcome new students to try this exceptional experience for your mind and body!

Mixed ages --- Ages 7 through Adult (extended time for more experience)

Mondays in Ouray: St. Daniels Catholic Church back side door on 5th (614 5th St, Ouray, CO 81427) from 5pm to 6pm for beginners through intermediate (all who are starting or do not have a brown belt). Brown Belt + will work from 5pm to 6:30 pm.

Wednesdays at the Old Schoolhouse (1075 Sherman St Ridgway, CO 81432) from 5:15pm to 6:15pm for beginners through intermediate (all who are just starting through mid-level — or do not have a brown belt). Brown Belt + will work from 5:15pm to 6:45 pm.

Tuition is $80/month for 2-2.5 hour classes and $56 for 1-1.5 hour classes. Multiple month discounts available by emailing lexi@weehawkenarts.org.

Payment & Registration is DUE by or before the first week of the month without exception. Drop-in available at $20 per class, due AT THE TIME of class via cash or check (made out to WCA or Weehawken.)

Functional Strength & Mobility Training (for women): Tuesday & Thursday 8:15-9 am

Vinyasa Yoga: Wednesday 8:15-9:15 am

Functional means we focus on movements that mimic everyday activities and improve overall mobility, strength and fitness. Exercises often work multiple muscle groups simultaneously, improving coordination and stability. I love the female group setting because we get a chance to really connect and not only get stronger physically, but also build support and community. Come for a drop in and get a taste or commit long term to transformation, vitality and longevity. All levels are welcome. Let's do hard things together!

Class Structure: 5 minute warm up / 30 minute circuit workout / 10 minute cooldown stretch & mobility

Vinyasa Yoga: This is a dynamic practice that will challenge, strengthen, and uplift you both physically and mentally. This practice moves through seven doorways or stages, starting by creating sacred space and connecting to breath. Then we light the fire through a series of warmups and vinyasa flow including Surya Namaskar (sun salutations) A, B & C. The warm up prepares the body for strong holding postures and finishes with yin and conscious surrender in savasana. All are welcome!

What To Bring: yoga mat, water, no shoes preferred - If you need to wear shoes they must be clean indoor shoes only. No mud, dirt, snow, etc.

Each week, your child will enjoy story time with songs and finger rhymes, a process‑art project, and a variety of creative sensory play. We end with a quick cleanup, circle time, and movement songs.

This class gently supports preschool prep and helps your child develop important school‑readiness skills—such as fine‑motor coordination, independence, and the ability to listen and follow directions—in a warm, supportive setting. Children will grow in:

Social, language, and communication skillsFine‑ and gross‑motor coordinationListening and direction‑following abilitiesConfidence, creativity, and imaginationParents and caregivers stay to support their child—but we handle the mess! Enjoy meaningful one‑on‑one time, connect with other parents, and watch your child grow through art and play.

Session 1 (4 weeks • $85): September 17 – October 8Session 2 (4 weeks • $85): October 22 – November 12Session 3 (3 weeks • $70): December 3 – December 17Each week, students will explore exciting themes and projects while experimenting with a wide variety of art materials—such as watercolor and acrylic paints, oil and chalk pastels, clay, collage, printmaking, and more.

Through open-ended projects, students are encouraged to explore their creativity, make artistic choices, take creative risks, and discover their unique artistic voice. Our classes nurture imaginative thinking and storytelling, helping children express big ideas and emotions through visual narratives and personal creations.

In addition to sparking imagination, our signature art projects support the development of fine motor skills, confidence, and social-emotional development in a fun group environment. Sharing materials, taking turns, and offering kind feedback all become part of the experience.

A student art reception will be held in December. Students will take home their collected works in the days following the event.

Additional Notes:

* This is a drop-off class. Ms. Claudia meets students at the elementary school at 3:00 pm and walks them to the Cora classroom. Parents who drop off can meet the group at ~3:15 pm at the classroom.
* Special needs: If your child has any specific needs, please contact Claudia in advance at claudia@weehawkenarts.org so we can ensure the best experience for your child.
* Voyager Add-On Option: Voyager staff can escort students after art class for continued care from 4:30–5:30 pm, at an additional cost of $5 per afternoon.
